Water Leak Detection in Temecula
Your water bill went up and nothing changed. Or you can hear water running when every tap is off. Or there’s a damp spot, a stain, or a smell you can’t explain. You know something is leaking. You just don’t know where.
Temecula Leak Experts is a Temecula-based leak detection team. We find hidden water leaks in homes across Temecula before anything gets opened, so the repair is targeted instead of a guess.

Warning signs
Signs You Have a Hidden Water Leak
Most hidden leaks give themselves away through side effects long before you see water:
Your water bill keeps climbing while your usage stays the same
Your water meter moves when all water in the house is off
You hear running or hissing water with nothing turned on
A damp spot, stain, or bubbling paint appears on a wall, ceiling, or floor
A section of floor feels warm under your feet
A musty smell lingers in one room, closet, or corner
Your water pressure has dropped throughout the house

Any one of these is worth checking. Two or more together usually means water is escaping somewhere you can’t see.

Narrow It Down Before You Call
You can often learn a lot in 15 minutes with your water meter and two valves. These checks don’t replace professional detection, but they tell you what kind of problem you’re dealing with, and sometimes they solve it.
Step 1: Confirm water is actually leaking
Turn off every faucet, appliance, and the irrigation system. Then look at your water meter. If the dial or small leak indicator is still moving, water is escaping somewhere on your property.
Step 2: Inside the house or outside?
Close the main shutoff valve where the water line enters your house. If the meter stops, the leak is inside the house. If it keeps moving, the leak is likely between the meter and the house, or in your irrigation system.
Step 3: Hot side or cold side?
Open the main valve again, then close the cold water inlet valve on top of your water heater. If the meter stops, the leak is most likely on the hot water side. Learn more on our hot water slab leak page.
Step 4: Rule out the toilets
Put a few drops of food coloring in each toilet tank and wait 15 minutes without flushing. If color shows up in the bowl, a leaking flapper may explain your high bill, and that’s a much simpler fix.

Our process
How We Find the Leak
Finding a hidden leak is a process of elimination. Each step narrows the search before anything is opened.
We confirm the leak with a meter test,
so we know water is actually escaping.
We isolate the system:
inside or outside, hot side or cold side.
We trace the leak to its source.
We mark the exact location,
so any repair needs only one targeted opening.
We explain what we found
and give you a detection report with repair recommendations.
A note on warm floors: A warm spot on the floor often points to a hot water leak, but it isn’t proof on its own. A hot line doesn’t always warm the surface above it. That’s why we confirm the leak through testing, not just by feel.
